What are the arrival days for your properties?

The most common arrival days are Friday and Saturday. Again, this depends on which vacation rental property you are renting. Please ask us about specific properties.

What is the check-in and check-out time?

Normally check-in is between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Checkout is normally by 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. In between, the properties are cleaned so please try not to arrive before 3 p.m.

What is the minimum amount of time we can stay in a property?

We rent out our vacation rental properties on a weekly basis. Depending on the property, exceptions may be negotiated- just ask and we'll try to work something out!

Do you have a catalog?

We feel that in order to provide you with the most up-to-date information about our vacation rental properties, we have decided to offer our catalog online, instead of in print. This will allow you, the customer, to feel assured that the information you are receiving is accurate. Please, take a note of our web address and make www.ScandinavianRentals.com your source for luxury holiday homes in Scandinavia!

What forms of payment do you accept?

We gladly accept checks and wire transfers, as well as Visa and Mastercard.  The most appropriate form of payment may be driven by time-constraints of the reservation process.

Are towels and linens provided?

For the majority of our vacation rental properties, yes, towels and linens are provided, sometimes at an additional charge. However, some properties require the guest to bring their own.  We will check the availability of towels and linens at the property you select as part of the reservation process.

Do your properties have fully-equipped kitchens?

All of our vacation rental properties provide fully-equipped kitchens that have, at the very least, a sink, stove-top, refrigerator, in addition to glasses, dishes and utensils for the maximum occupancy, as well as frying pans, sauce pans, and basic cookware. Most likely there will be a coffee maker, a microwave, an oven, a toaster, etc., all of which will be listed on the property page.

Do you work with travel agents?

Definitely! We are happy to work with travel agents and we look forward to hearing from you! We will do all we can to help you in arranging your client´s accommodations. Please feel free to call us at (805) 643-6363, or send us an email so we can start the booking process!

Is there a washer & dryer?

For many of our luxury vacation rental properties there is a washer and a dryer. Due to high energy costs, dryers are not always available. In this case, there will be racks or clothes lines to air dry your laundry. The property page will provide this information for each specific property.

How far in advance should we reserve a property in Scandinavia

We recommend you reserve as early as possible to give yourself the best selection. Many Scandinavian and German tourists return year after year and will reserve their property for the following year, at the time of their departure. It is ideal if you book at least 6 to 9 months ahead of time because availability is still very good that far in advance. Unlike vacation rental properties in other parts of Europe, for most of our properties, ScandinavianRentals will provide you with set prices and availability for a year or more in advance!

What is the arrival procedure?

Once you have sent us your final payment, you will receive your Final Confirmation of Reservation document that contains all pertinent information about your vacation rental property and your arrival, including address, directions and contact information.  You will either be directed to the local office where you will receive the keys and specifics about the house and surrounding area or you will go directly to the property where a representative will be to greet you with the keys and show you around. Just ask us and we will let you know!

Is it possible to see the property before I decide which one I want?

We follow a strict policy of not giving out the addresses of our vacation rental properties until after the reservation has been finalized. This is to protect the privacy of current occupants.  We will do our absolute best to provide you with as much information about the property and its surrounding area so that you won't have to go and see it before you decide.

What is the procedure with the security deposit?

If you caused damage to the vacation rental property during your stay, the local representative should be immediately informed. They will arrange to repair the damages and the associated cost will be charged against your security deposit. If the cost exceeds the amount of the deposit, you will be billed for the excess. If no damage is done to the property or the cost of repairs can be covered by the deposit, the local representative will return the deposit to you less any charges for utilities, telephone, repairs, etc.  The refund process may take several weeks.  ScandinavianRentals.com will assist you with any difficulties regarding refund.

Do we need a rental car?

For almost all of our vacation rental properties, there is a town within walking distance and the public transportation is good enough so that you don't have to rent a car. For more isolated properties, we would suggest a car rental so that you can be easily transported between the property and the nearest train station. Gas is expensive in Scandinavia, so the more public transportation you use, the cheaper it will be for you to see more sites and surroundings.  As always, if time is of the essence, having a car available will permit you to spend maximum time at attractions and activities.

What is the cancellation policy?

For each vacation rental property, the cancellation policy is slightly different. Our general policy is: if cancellation is made 90 days or more prior to contracted arrival date, cancellation charge is 20% of rental amount. If cancellation is made 89 to 45 days prior to contracted arrival date, cancellation charge is 30%. For cancellations less than 45 days from arrival date, cancellation charge is 100%. Some properties have stricter cancellation charges. Please ask us for details.

Is maid service included in the rental price?

In Scandinavia, there are many vacation rental properties that allow the client to perform the final cleaning. This is a very involved task, possibly including washing windows and thawing freezers, and strict standards may apply. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you choose to have a maid service perform this duty. Besides, we think your last day of vacation is better spent on pleasurable activities than cleaning your vacation property.  We will happily arrange this for you! Frequently, final cleaning services involve an additional charge.  When final cleaning service is included in the price, it will be stated on the property page.

Will we receive a price break for rentals lasting longer than one week?

Occasionally, a price break is available for multi-week rentals.  Let us check it out for you.
